A whole leaf of the laurel tree, ranging from 1 to 3 inches in length and from 1/2 to 1 inch in width. The leaves are silvery-green in color and impart a flavor that is fragrant, sweet and aromatic with just a slightly bitter taste. Durkee Bay Leaves use only imported bay leaves from Turkey. Many competitors use domestic leaves. You will find that the imported leaves have a much smoother flavor and are more complementary to food products, while domestic leaves are more bitter and have a strong menthol flavor.
