Єгипетський рис – це круглі та великі зерна, попередньо оброблені рослинною олією, завдяки чому вони набувають перламутрового кольору, придбавають цікавий аромат та збагачуються корисними речовинами. На відміну від інших круглозернистих сортів, єгипетський не злипається при варінні, а виходить дещо в'язким та ніжним, добре тримає форму, тому може служити компонентом більшості страв східної кухні.
