A plastic packet of miso paste containing 500g of paste made from soy beans, rice and salt. This is a golden yellow coloured miso with medium sweet flavours suitable for soups and accompanying root vegetables. Miso can be used as an alternative to soy sauce and in all sorts of Japanese cooking, from the famous miso soup, to marinades, dressings and toppings. It is also used increasingly in health-food cooking as it is low in fat (5%) and cholesterol.
