<b>Soapnuts grow (wild-crafted) on trees in India; the shells contain Saponin a natural soap.</b> <p>Soap nuts are a great eco-friendly product, free of synthetic chemicals, fragrances, toxins, and most of all, the fillers that are used in commercial detergent. They're just as powerful as standard detergent, and perhaps more so since they come from a natural source. While you won't see big bubbles of suds in the washer, the cleaning solution is pure and will remove grime and dirt from your laundry in a natural way.</p> <p>Each 500g of soap nuts is packed in a muslin bag with small wash bag and washing instructions.</p> <b>How do I use soap nuts as a laundry detergent?</b> <p>Place 4 or 8 soap nuts in the small muslin bag, tie it closed, and throw it into the drum of your washing machine along with the articles of clothing that need washing. You can reuse this batch for 4 loads or more. The soap nuts will be mushy and grey when they need to be thrown away or composted. Alternatively, you can use 3 tablespoons (45ml) of soap nuts liquid detergent per large load of laundry. Soap nuts are perfect for all washing machines as they do not create many suds! Soap nuts liquid can go in the detergent drawer. For sweat stains, rub lemon juice or white vinegar on the garment before washing. If you wish, add a scoop of washing soda in the detergent drawer (to help with grease and protect the machine). For washes of 30°C or lower soak the soap nuts in the muslin bag in hot water for a few minutes. This will help to release saponin for the best results.
