The first measurement describes the front face (the width) The second measurement describes the gusset width (the depth front to back when the bag is opened out) The third measurement describes the height (how tall the unfilled bag is) To work out the total width of the bag (as if it was stretched out flat) add the first and second measurement together. When you are deciding which size of bag you need, remember to allow for a bit of reduction in height as you fill the bag, and also decide if you want excess at the top for tying off.
