It can be used for marinating, sauces, and stir-fries, but the most common use is for enhancing flavor to prepared steaks. Mushrooms and steaks have always been a special combination together. This was the inspiration that led Art Sayler to develop his mushroom sauce for his famed steak house in Portland Oregon, Sayler's Old Country Kitchen, in business since 1946. The sauce quickly became a tabletop favorite at the restaurant and at homes.
