## Ingredients

- 250 ml [Milk](https://fridge.menu/en/i/milk)
- 25 g [Yeast](https://fridge.menu/en/i/yeast)
- 100 g [Butter](https://fridge.menu/en/i/butter)
- 1 pinch [Saffron](https://fridge.menu/en/i/saffron)
- 50 g [Caster sugar](https://fridge.menu/en/i/sugar)
- 2 pcs [Eggs](https://fridge.menu/en/i/eggs)
- 450 g [Plain flour](https://fridge.menu/en/i/flour)
- 1 pinch [Salt](https://fridge.menu/en/i/salt)
- 1 pcs [Egg](https://fridge.menu/en/i/eggs) — for glazing
- 100 g [icing sugar](https://fridge.menu/en/i/powdered-sugar)
- 1 pinch [Saffron](https://fridge.menu/en/i/saffron) — for the icing
- 1 tbsp [Water](https://fridge.menu/en/i/water)
- 100 ml [whipping cream](https://fridge.menu/en/i/whipping-cream)

### filling

- 100 g [Caster sugar](https://fridge.menu/en/i/sugar)
- 100 g [Marzipan](https://fridge.menu/en/i/marzipan)
- 100 g [Butter](https://fridge.menu/en/i/butter) — softened
- 0.5 tsp [vanilla powder](https://fridge.menu/en/i/vanilla-powder)

## Steps

1. Stir the yeast and ground saffron into the milk, then add the sugar, salt, melted butter and eggs.
2. Mix well and gradually add the flour. Knead the dough thoroughly — it may be a little sticky, but don't add too much flour or the buns will turn out dry.
3. Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 1/2 hours.
4. For the filling, mix the sugar and marzipan, then quickly beat in the butter and vanilla with a mixer — the key is not to overmix.
5. Roll out the dough into a large square just over 1 cm thick and cut into roughly 15×15 cm squares. Place 1 tbsp of filling in each, fold the corners of the dough in and press the edges and base firmly together.
6. Place the buns seam-side down on a baking tray lined with baking paper and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
7. Brush with beaten egg and bake in a fan oven preheated to 175°C for about 15 minutes.
8. Let the buns cool on a wire rack, cut them in half, fill with whipped cream and decorate with saffron icing.
