Coconut sugar has been used as a traditional sweetener for hundreds of years in the South and South-East Asian regions where the coconut palm is in abundant supply. Organic Coconut sugar is a sugar produced from the sap of cut flower buds of the coconut palm, grown in organic certified plantations. The sap is collected and placed over moderate heat to evaporate the moisture content. As the water evaporates it starts to transform first into a syrup-like substance, then into crystals.Coconut sugar is subtly sweet almost like brown sugar but with a slight hint of caramel and vanilla. It is excellent for cooking, baking and enhancing the taste of beverages (coffee, tea, cocktails, smoothies) and desserts.
