An authentic luxury treat. <p> Origin:</p> <p> AUTORE is a small family company based in San Marco dei Cavoti in the heart of the Campania hills in Southern Italy where, for generations, people have dedicated their lives to the fine art of chocolate making. Some of the original recipes can be traced back to 100 B.C. when a block of sugar, almonds and hazelnuts, the original nougat, went under the name of "cupedia", a term used to describe gluttony for fine or delicate foods! It was marketed in Ancient Rome and noted by Roman poets. Later, bite-sized and covered in rich dark chocolate, it became a favourite of the Bourbon King of Naples, Ferdinando I. From there it made its way quickly to the tables of popes and nobles all over Europe. </p> <p> Tasting Notes: Almonds, hazelnuts, "sulla" honey and white figs from Cilento (near the Amalfi coast) covered with extra fine dark chocolate. A crunchy core of almonds, hazelnuts, organic honey and figs laced with caramel and perfectly balanced by a thin coating of extra fine dark chocolate.</p>
