Lip-smacking Indian lentils with a delightful mix of spices. The lentils are cooked and mixed with a tadka (sizzled spices in hot oil). It's one of the first dishes I learned to make when, as a child, I used to sneak into the kitchen to eat spicy food. It still is one of my favorites. Prep time: 15 minutes. Cook time: 35 minutes. Spice level: Mild (can be increased to Medium). Contents: Mama's recipe + 2 spice sachets. Serves 4.
