Philippe Collin, the son of a Champenois, makes this bottle-fermented sparkling wine from 'Champagne grapes' Pinot Noir & Chardonnay in the Limoux region. The fine mousse and clean finish of this excellent Crémant de Limoux belie its Seventies label and humble price tag. Made from a 'Champagne' blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay and bottle-fermented in the méthode traditionelle, it is a versatile crowd-pleasing fizz. With a light, frothy mousse, attractive biscuity nose and crisp, dry, spankingly-clean palate, this Crémant de Limoux Brut is a terrific choice for all the occasions when budgets are abridged but bubbles are beneficial.
